Welding Worker Jobs description
An aircraft welder or machinist is responsible for manufacturing, repairing, or reconditioning a wide variety of aircraft parts. An aircraft welder assembles structural, mechanical systems and aircraft systems in new production aircraft. An aircraft welder aligns and assembles parts using assembly fixtures, shop aids, pins, clamps, templates, and fasteners maintaining specified tolerances, and performs the full range of welding duties using a variety of oxyacetylene, tungsten inert gas shielded heat, plasma and electric arc welding and/or cutting equipment. An aircraft welder may be required to use electrodes, rods, flux, alignment jigs, and fixtures to produce serviceable fused metallic components.An aircraft welder/machinist job may require 2+ years of related aircraft production and assembly experience, with either military or general aviation airframes. Part 23 experience and A&P license may be preferred for some positions. An aircraft welder should be an expert with hand and power tools including portable riveting guns, squeezers, pneumatic drills, countersinks, files, reamers, calipers, micrometers, and torque wrenches.
