Pasadena, CA — Flights are getting full again, as a report from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) shows that the load factors in July 2010 were 86.9 percent.

The BTS report also said that domestic airlines had 1.7 percent fewer workers in August 2010 as compared to August 2009. The airline industry employed 377,835 full-time equivalent employees. But the airlines have also started hiring again.

American Airlines has plans to recall 250 pilots and 545 flight attendants as part of its international expansion. Delta also wants to add a 1,000 more flight attendants, including recalling 425 furloughed attendants. Again, the hiring is because of the airline's plan for international expansion. On a year-over-year measure, six low-cost airlines reported increased hiring, the main ones being Southwest Airlines and Virgin America.

A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of AviationCrossing is also confident that the airline industry has finally started hiring people. ''In the last few days, we have been able to find over 3,000 jobs in the aviation industry. These include small regional carriers as well as the national carriers.''
