Aviation employment in the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers conjures up pride and contentment. Being a part of making something extraordinary, you cannot help but be proud of what you helped build. In today’s technology, people can really rely on the quality and safety of aircrafts. An aircraft is a complex machine that takes thousands of work hours to complete, consisting of numerous experts in their respective fields to make the aircraft. Aviation is only a little more than a hundred years old and now the aircraft industry is reaching a new height and each year, expansions in many cities for the various parts and electronics parts manufacturing created huge number of aviation jobs. The government has projects that further generate jobs for thousands of people in the United States.

Before each flight, the plane should be in perfect condition. That is why among the most important careers in aviation are the aircraft maintenance mechanics, avionics equipment mechanics, and services technicians make sure that the plane should have the same performance as it did the first time. These mechanics are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the plane meticulously. The FAA has strict standards and rules to follow and each year, new rules are added as a safety measure.

The aircraft maintenance operators are experts in preventive maintenance of the plane. The inspection is thorough and unhurried. They inspect the air conditioning systems, brakes, engine, pumps, valves; everything. They replace the parts that need replacing. The mechanics maintain a record of all the parts inspected and parts replaced for evaluation. The mechanics also follow schedules of inspection according to the duration of the flight. There are a number of inspection operations to ensure that the plane is checked regularly. There are many planes today that are equipped with modern diagnostic monitor systems so that mechanics can access the information of the plane’s operations. The mechanics inspect the plane’s engines through a special access using a platform to reach them. The engines are then taken apart and the blades of the engine are inspected using e-ray equipment to check the blades for any sign of wear or cracks. If the cracks and wear are detected they are replaced promptly. Mechanics not only work in the engines, they will also inspect the surfaces for any cracks including the wings, fuselage, tail, and tires.

Another aviation job is the airframe mechanic. They work in certain part of the plane except on the parts that are on the scope of maintenance technicians. They also do limited work in engines and propellers. They check and monitor the avionics system of the plane including the communication, navigation equipments, radar, and the on board computer that is used for flight control, and other plane operations. The avionics technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing these instruments. They are also responsible for analyzing and troubleshoot electronic problems of the avionics.
The outlook of employment in aviation is good, and there are job openings each year and in other airlines, interns, and part time workers are employed as well. The median hourly salary of the technicians and mechanics ranges from $22 to $30. These workers only need a high school diploma and must obtain a certificate of training in an FAA facility.

If you want a career in aviation you have to determine what field you want to work with and start reviewing your resume and don’t forget to include your licensure and training information then submit them to aviation websites. Try to find entry level positions, flight instructor if it interests you and you can also work as a private pilot for large companies and fly charter jet services for corporate clients. You can also work in the customer service or ticketing and even travel agencies or get a flight attendant training with the airline you want to work for.
