To achieve financial stability, Eclipse Aviation, a jet manufacturer, announced on Friday that it will lay off 38% of its employees.
According to a former employee, who wished to remain anonymous, workers were told that jobs cuts were based on each individual's skill and job performance.
The job cuts first hit temporary workers and employees that had been with the company less than six months.
CEO Roel Pieper said that that layoffs are needed to take the Albuquerque manufacturer to the next level of growth, and that a reduction in workforce was necessary to achieve that.
