According to the Portland Business Journal, Cessna Aircraft Company Vice President Jim Walters sent an email to employees announcing the company's plan to reduce their work force by some 2,000 jobs.
Last week, word had spread of more layoffs and Cessna confirmed, but yesterday was the first official release of the number of affected jobs.
Walters said in the email that all pay categories will be affected and that a voluntary layoff program will be offered.
This latest round of layoffs was attributed to the global economic downturn as well.
