Duties** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties**Ensures all aircrew flight equipment meets strict airworthiness criteria and that it will sustain combat operations/readiness by inspecting, testing, calibrating, certifying, diagnostic evaluating, troubleshooting, repairing/replacing, assembling and disassembling all Aircrew Flight Equipment, aircrew chemical/biological defense equipment, and aircraft ejection/non-ejection systems. Clears Red X symbols on aircraft forms, aircraft/aircrew electronic communications equipment, and aircraft-oxygen related systems. Certifies Aircrew Flight Equipment requirements for all missions; and ensures aircraft are properly configured with proper types and numbers of Aircrew Flight Equipment dependent on destination and mission being flown. Certifies by signature forms and equipment records the proper configuration and serviceability of aircraft installed equipment. Conducts FOT&E (Follow on Test and Evaluation) of Aircrew Flight Equipment and aircrew chemical defense equipment to ensure flight safety and optimum performance standards. Makes suggestions and recommendations to change processes and procedures related to technical material governing equipment and practices. Forecasts, requisitions and stores life support equipment and supplies to include multiple munitions types. Conducts weapons (9MM & M-16) and ammunition inspections and issue/turn-in procedures during operational contingencies/exercises. Responsible for inspecting, repairing and packing personnel, deceleration, and cargo drop parachutes, life rafts and life vests. Utilizes a variety of complex state of the art diagnostic testers/systems/specialty tools. Observes opening time, rate of decent, and stability. Recovers parachute and inspects apparatus and components for damage. Inspects, adjusts, repairs, and tests intricate automatic and manual release assemblies for proper operation. Assembles all types of parachutes upon receipt. Conducts zero-defect quality control program of parachute assemblies and annotates data in the trend analysis programs. Operates, repairs and maintains sewing machines, punch presses and other related equipment. Inspects, cleans and tests safety belts and restraint harnesses. Supports operational tasking for theater and Joint Forces Commanders. Ensures standardization and compliance with policies, directives, course control documents, Operational Risk Management (ORM) procedures, operational guidance, and instructional methodology. During peacetime and combat missions, engages Intel and Combat Search and Rescue Forces. Utilizes, maintains, and updates multiple computer main frame programs/data bases to analyze, troubleshoot, schedule, and maintain inspection and accountability reports/documentation on all aircrew/aircraft life support and aircrew chemical-biological defense equipment. Manages, monitors, and conducts inventories of all Aircrew Flight Equipment munitions/ammunition assets, forecasts time change requirements, removes and installs all munitions, and transports via Military/Commercial Aircraft and/or vehicles. Maintain munitions/ammunition at designated supply point locations, documents appropriate accounts, receives formal training required to ensure the units mission can sustain combat operations. Maintains certificationand remains proficient in handling, shipping, storing, and ordering multiple hazardous materials. Manages a comprehensive Aircrew Flight Equipment mobility package required to sustain bare base operations under surge type conditions. Utilizes and monitors the Logistics Detail (LOGDET) Data-Base, ensuring all assets are properly loaded into the system for accuracy. Performs periodic in-depth inspections. In addition, the incumbent will be certified and remain current and knowledgeable on all Aircrew Flight Equipment hazards. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level - Must possess 18 months: (1) Experience or trainingwhich has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. (2) Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. (3) Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. (4)Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. Six months of the experience listed above must have been equivalent to the WG-08 level. WG-08 Level - Must possess 18 months: (1) Experience or trainingwhich has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. (2) Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. (3) Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. WG-05 Level - Must possess 12 months: (1) Experience or training which has demonstrated a basic knowledge of aviation life support equipment. (2) Experience using common hand tools. (3) Experience that demonstrates the ability to follow written instructions.Military Requirements- Military skill set is determined by AFSC requirements.
