The Flight Control Actuation Lead is responsible for the technical

oversight and supplier management of all rotor and surface actuators and

cockpit trim system on a Military VTOL Aircraft development program. Support

activities include Conceptual Design and Production Risk Reduction, Preliminary

Design, Detailed Design, integrated laboratory tests, aircraft tests, and

flight tests.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

Produce, iterate, and

externally communicate / negotiate requirements including sizing criteria,

packaging, performance, and environment for the rotor actuators, surface

actuators, and cockpit trim system in a Fly-By-Wire Flight Control System.Develop to Flight

Control System interface definition related to these actuated subsystems

including related software requirements, system and component specifications,

interface documents, wiring and hydraulic interface definition and testing,

system safety assessment, and aircraft/system qualification Develop mechanical

interface definitions and analyses for these actuated subsystems in partnership

with Airframe Integration and Structures including kinematics, spring

constants, clash and structural integrity constraint definition, and related

flight test monitoring limits.Perform analysis and

System Integration Lab tests to design and substantiate actuation force fight

algorithms, solenoid engagement timing, dynamic monitor susceptibility, and

piloted evaluation of nominal and failure scenarios.

Education Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is

required. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering would be considered with

relevant experience.

 

Position Requirements:

 

8 years of relevant

experience in Flight Control Systems or Hydraulics Systems preferred.

Experience in other dynamic systems in vertical lift considered.

Experience with requirements flow-down, supplier

management, and supplier-level qualification.

Familiarity with aircraft systems requirements and

Military design approach is required.

Familiarity with CATIA V6 is required.

Experience

with procured aircraft actuation components required.

Experience

with the hardware and software associated with Flight Control Computers,

FADECs, mission computers, aircraft interface units, crewstation

devices, and/or technical management of actuation suppliers is

preferred.

Strong

communications skills with capability to interface well with senior level

customer technical and program leadership.
