MINNESOTA NATIONAL GUARD:
This position is is primarily responsible for supervising the activities of the Flight Engineers and managing the Flight Engineer Program of the unit. The incumbent supervises 3 to 12 full-time Flight Engineers and 5 to 40 drill status guard member (DSG) Flight Engineers.

A Supervisory Flight Engineer (C-130 Instructor), GS, 2185, 11, Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Flight Engineer (Instructors), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and flight engineer objectives. Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies command guidelines, policies, and regulations. Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of flight engineer functions. Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution. Performs flight engineering duties. Performs preflight inspection of the interior and exterior of the aircraft, to include engines, fuselage, and control surfaces for mechanical and structural soundness; inspects and regulates environmental, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, pressurization, radar, and other systems as required by the applicable flight manual. Functionally checks all aircraft systems, flight instruments, and onboard computers. Identifies and documents discrepancies to ensure the accomplishment of minor and/or major repairs; initiates requests for worker(s) to repair, service, or inspect the aircraft. Manages, reviews and develops policy for Flight Engineer section, advising employees on both general policy and specific squadron matters. Makes decisions and recommendations on technical concerns presented by Flight Engineers. Utilizes comprehensive knowledge and ability to interpret Air Force Instructions, Technical Orders including Performance Manuals, Air Force Occupational Safety and Health (AFOSH) environmental standards, public law, and locally developed policy. Aircrew Standardization/Evaluation Program: Manages the Flight Engineer Standardization evaluation program, which is specifically designed to maintain guidance per AFI and other applicable instructions on evaluation testing, maintain Flight evaluation folders, set up no notice evaluations, attend Standardization Evaluation Review Boards ( that determine evaluation, testing, new Flight Engineer upgrades and trending analysis) and perform Flight Engineer annual Evaluations to include ground evaluation. Serves as a flight examiner as required and performs staff duties. Administers no notice and annual evaluations to evaluate aircrew members' performance during all phases of mission execution. Conducts performance critiques. Ensures aircrew members meet or exceed qualification standards for assigned crew position. Performs other duties as assigned.

REMARKS: No PCS available. This position is also posted as Merit AGR Vacancy # ANG 18-276. Position will not be filled until current incumbent vacates. Members with rank higher than identified in 'key requirements' are eligible to apply but, may be required to take a reduction should they be selected. The military grade of the supervisor must equal or exceed the grade of personnel supervised. Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123 is required. This position is subject to rules and regulations of the USAF and the ANG, to include fitness standards, as well as any AFSC specific requirements. This is a dual status position. Sensitivity Level 2.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: ENLISTED (MSgt/E-7 to CMSgt/E-9)
IAW NGR 600-25 AND AFI 36-101, grade inversion within the full-time workforce is not permitted.
