The Director, Policy and Performance is the principal advisor to the Air Traffic Organization's (ATO) Vice President, Safety and Technical Training. The Director is responsible for providing advice, guidance and oversight of safety audits and assessments to ensure compliance with safety requirements and to mitigate risk in the National Airspace System (NAS). The incumbent is responsible for leading and exercising executive and technical direction of several subordinate offices.
Provides leadership and serves as principal advisor on the safety of the NAS with international organizations and coordinates international activities with FAA and international aviation organizations to ensure global harmonization of safety management in air navigation.
Provides executive direction on NextGen transitional activities, reviewing safety risk analyses of NextGen operational initiatives.
Develops and maintains the ATO Safety Management System (SMS) policy manual.
Designs and develops advanced integrated safety management concepts.
Researches and creates integrated risk-based assessment standards, metrics, processes and tools within the ATO as required by law, rule or regulation.
