Candidate will maintain, repair, service and inspect aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components. They will apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and apply expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation. Aircraft maintenance specialist is accountable to Director, Aircraft Maintenance for accomplishing duties according to Air Force and project policies, procedures, directives and regulations. Aircraft Mechanic is delegated authority to accomplish duties set forth above within the limits of approved policies, procedures, directives and regulations and other guidelines as approved by Director, Aircraft Maintenance.
Have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
Requires a broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
Must have a basic knowledge of electrical theory.
Have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators and micrometers.
Be able to use various respirators and dust masks.
Must be able to use appropriate technical orders, engineering requests, drawings, blueprints and schematics.
Inspects aircraft components for cleanliness, alignment, proper clearance and operation, and evidence of wear, cracks, and looseness according to applicable technical orders.
Be able to remove and install various types of aircraft coatings and sealants.
Be able to align, rig adjust and calibrate aircraft systems.
Installs, removes and evaluates aircraft modifications, TCTO's and repairs.
Reviews and completes various maintenance records and reports to ensure complete documentation.
Will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft tasks.
Will perform, coordinate and assist in progressive, isochronal, periodic, phase and other hourly and calendar inspections.
Supervises and assists in aircraft launch and recovery.
Will jack, tow and service aircraft oil, de-icing, fuel, pneudraulic, and oxygen systems.
Remove and install panels, fasteners, components and other structures as required.
Accomplish aircraft weight and balance functions.
Inspects, repairs and performs functional checks of aircraft systems, such as pneudralic, electric, environmental, lubrication, anti-icing, power plant, oxygen, fuel, vacuum, induction and exhaust and installed equipment such as launchers and auxiliary power units.
Perform engine runs for performance and trouble shooting.
Inspect jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security and wear.
Obtains engine oil samples for analysis.
Must be able to operate various types of powered and non-powered AGE and perform user maintenance.
Will be required to perform crash recovery operations as required.
Properly inspect aircraft structures for corrosion for prevention and correction.
Provide as required CUT training to other personnel.
Be knowledgeable in wheel/tire teardown and build up.
Practice good housekeeping, FOD awareness/prevention, tool control and safety at all times.
Have a working knowledge of proper handling of hazardous waste and materials.
Must be able to operate various motorized vehicles such as cranes, tugs, forklifts and vans.
Be willing to be cross trained to perform other aircraft related tasks and maintenance out of the primary job description.
Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed.
Shall perform other duties assigned to include TDY and travel.
Be able to work varying shift hours, overnights and days to ensure mission effectiveness.
Be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance with special access.
Must locate to the Las Vegas, NV area.
Shall promote company values, policies and standards of conduct.
High School Diploma Graduate or GED, and 2 years related experience
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a TS SSBI clearance within 180 days.
Must be willing to relocate to the Las Vegas, Nevada area.
Experience on Air Force Fixed and Rotary WingAircraft
Ability to climb stairs, ladders, stands, work on elevated surfaces and lift 50 pounds.
Ability to work flexible shifts to ensure mission effectiveness.
