SUMMARY: The Manager of Continuous Improvement and Manpower Workforce Development shall be responsible to the Vice-President, Quality & Organizational Excellence for the overall administration of continuous improvement initiatives and manpower Workforce development company-wide. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: With the assistance of CI Facilitators under his/her supervision, the Manager will: Coordinate, administer, and develop the companyâ€™s continuous improvement (CI) programs. Establishing the strategic plans for continuous improvement and chartering the right strategic projects for the company. Provide the leadership and vision for leveraging technology and continuous improvement projects to improve productivity and business efficiency. Develop the department into becoming the national center of excellence for ST Engineering Aerospace in the US by creating a repeatable, sustainable continuous improvement methodology that can potentially be adopted into other ST Engineering Aerospace companies. Consult and counsel with program/functional managers and department heads to understand business needs and identify opportunities where technology and continuous improvement methods can be leveraged to maximize customer satisfaction and enhance business productivity. Provide the leadership to transform the business culture to one that embraces Lean, Six- Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement concepts and methodologies to promote organizational excellence. Identify opportunities in re-engineering business processes in consultation with program/functional managers to eliminate waste and other constraints to organizational excellence. Oversee technology-based improvement projects and providing the roadmap from problem identification to solution deployment. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders such as HR, Training, Production and Support groups on the training needs assessment and development plan for the department and its employees. Oversee and execute other special projects and assignments as directed by the VP/GM or the VP- Quality & Organizational Excellence. Work with Human Resources to create 3 objectives : A pipeline for new employees in conjunction with federal or academic agencies that will create a workforce that is vested in the company and motivated to build their career at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. A workforce development plan for current employees designed to enhance the employees capability to drive value into the organization through continuous improvement principles. an employee retention plan designed to create a pathway for the employees to stay long term with VT SAA. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following: The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive. The ability to perform analysis of collected data including statistical computations, draw process flow charts detailing the interrelationship among the functions, create data and control charts in Excel, develop concise and clear presentation materials in PowerPoint. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:SUPERVISION: The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority. Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance. INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the public. PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office. Must be able to cope with stress due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours. JOB QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: Preferred degree qualified (vocational, professional or advanced) in the field of Engineering, Aviation Management, Quality Management or Logistics Management. 4 yearsâ€™ related experience within Engineering, Aviation, Quality, Logistics or 2 yearsâ€™ experience with related Masterâ€™s Degree. EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated Capabilities in the following disciplines: Lean Practitioner SkillsExperienced Lean Facilitator or Six Sigma Facilitator Facilitator SkillsFacilitator trainer Experience with team deployment, dynamics and development. Facilitate team meetings Facilitative leadership instructor Communications SkillsExperience with coordinating team report outs to management Experience in training and communication Operations Experience in Management, Planning or Technical Support of Engineering, Aviation, Quality or Logistics Operations
