About the Position
Assists in managing, coordinating and directing the work of the staff and activities providing custodial and related support services to the Department of Aviation.
This recruitment will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies which may occur within the next six months.
Note: This classification is designated exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and is therefore, not eligible for overtime.

Equivalent to completion of two years of college level coursework in Business or Public Administration, or a field related to the work and three years of full-time administrative or supervisory experience in areas such as custodial or housekeeping services.

License and Certification: Must possess valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of hire.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.
Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.
Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a five year employment and residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment and to drive a motor vehicle in order to visit various County work sites for the purpose of making inspections; vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Examples of Duties
Plans, organizes, administers, reviews and evaluates the work of skilled, semi-skilled and support staff through subordinate supervisors in multiple occupational areas. Recommends selection of staff; trains staff and provides for their professional development; administers discipline as required. Recommends goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the section; assists in preparing the section's budget. Contributes to the overall quality of the section's service provision by coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures. Oversees custodial services for the Department of Aviation; conducts regular and routine inspections. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a County or personal motor vehicle to conduct work site inspections. Responds to and resolves County staff inquiries and complaints. Conducts analytical studies; develops and reviews reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations; directs the maintenance of accurate records and files. Prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of written correspondence and periodic and special reports regarding work performed.
Health and dental insurance is available at a minimal expense to eligible employees, spouses and dependents. The County pays the monthly life insurance premium for eligible employees.
Service Connected Disability Insurance:
Eligible employees are covered by a Workman's Compensation Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act (NRS 617).
Long-Term Disability Insurance:
The County pays a monthly premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.
Vacation leave accrual is based on length of County employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for each biweekly pay period.
Eligible employees accrue 3.7 hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing 10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per biweekly pay period.
Court leave, military leave, parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave, and County promotional/transfer application examination leave are available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees.
Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System.
Clark County employees and their families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union.
Subject to availability of funds, eligible employees may be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of pre-approved, job related courses.
