Summary

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position: This job provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing support to the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an office setting.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for Depot-level installation, repair, modification, and testing for a variety of airborne electronic systems, including radio and radar navigation systems, radar altimeter systems, radio and radar instrumentation systems, identification transponders systems, and radio communication systems such as EM, HF, UHF, and VHF.

Install, troubleshoot, and repair systems and/or adjust specific components such as radio communications and radar transponders, control units, coder-decoder units navigation data converters, instrument landing systems components, navigational visual OMNI, radios.

Use a variety of electronic testing equipment such as audio signal generators, frequency meters, wattmeters, voltmeters, devising special test setups or systems as required.

Tests systems by performing complete functional check. Assembles complete new configuration of avionics, systems, or accessories and remounts modified equipment.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Your resume must indicate your ability to complete functional checks of airborne communications/navigation systems; use test equipment to diagnose malfunctions; troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunction; and complete repairs of airborne communication and navigation equipment - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires moderate to strenuous effort. The work involves physical exertion, prolonged standing, climbing, working in cramped or awkward positions, reaching, lifting, and bending.. Handles objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside hanger (occasionally outside) in all types of weather and in noisy surroundings. Subject to cold, heat, and drafts. Danger of cuts, bruises, scrapes, burns, and electrical shock. May be required to wear safety shoes, gloves, and ear protection. May be subject to shift work. May be required to work in cramped and confined spaces.
