Under general supervision, provides a variety of services to families, children and adults in various social service programs in Child Protective Services (CPS). Duties include: assisting individuals and families with the application processes, referring applicants and clients to appropriate community resources; visiting homes of natural, adoptive or foster families to monitor home situations on an ongoing basis; escorting and transporting foster children in visits to their natural parents, and supervising the visit; providing case management assistance to participants involved in CPS, as well as giving clerical support. Clerical support includes research of CPS cases, input of documentation and dissemination of case documentation as appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): KNOWLEDGE of: casework principles, practices and maintenance; human services and facilities available to applicants, recipients and participants; resources available in the community; cultural, environmental and community influences on behavior and development of individuals in specified client groups. SKILL in: interviewing, eliciting and gathering information; organizing work; oral and written communication; interpersonal relations; collecting, maintaining and processing a variety of financial data efficiently and accurately. ABILITY to: organize pertinent data in a logical, coherent manner; perform routine clerical functions such as reception, filing, mailing, data entry; prepare written reports in a prescribed format; use computers and software.

PREFERRED/IDEAL CANDIDATE: Will possess two years of college or university training with a minimum of 21 semester hours in child development, rehabilitation, social services, counseling, psychology, sociology or other closely related field from an accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will also possess computer experience, which includes Windows applications.

NOTE: Applicants for this position shall be subject to a search of the Child Protective Services Central Registry. Applicants for this position will be required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets Level One requirements.

Additional job requirements for employment are: A valid Arizona Driver's license, valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration. Employees may be required to use their own transportation; however, travel expenses will be reimbursed.

All newly hired employees are subject to the E-Verify Employment Eligibility Verification Program.
